15T GEARBOX AS FITTED TO
FLYING CADET MODEL L.15A

We have had reports that certain machines suffer accidental disengagement of 1st gear.  In such cases the following procedure should be adopted :-

1.  Remove generator cover and gearbox outer cover.

2.  Determine end-float on kickstart shaft.  Optimum end-float is 10 thou.  If in excess, select shims to leave this end float.

3.  Remove gearbox inner cover.  Fit shims on layshaft in front of layshaft 1st gear.

4.  Check camplate plunger and replace if point is worn.  Reassemble.  Check kickstart shaft end float is not less than 10 thou.

Materials required :-   Layshaft shims:   camplate plunger.

All future supplies of units will be checked for this fault before despatch to you.  If you are unable to undertake the necessary modification, please contact our Service Department: We will then make appropriate arrangements to assist you.
