During the 1000 miles in 24 hours attempt on the Isle of Man T.T. course a couple of problems were encountered.

In "practice" it was "suspected" that the piston nipped up.  On the actual attempt the machine crashed and a new footrest had to be fitted.

Let's Speculate !
I wonder whether, when the piston nipped, they were, in fact, making the official attempt but, because of the time lost, they wrote off the elapsed time as "practice" and started again.  I suspect, also, that the crash that damaged the footrest might have been the result of another seizure.
