The front forks were developed by James in cooperation with the Dunlop Rubber Company and used lengths of rubber, in compression, in place of springs.  (They were also fitted to export models for 1949 and became standard fitting on the 1950 Deluxe Cadet and Captain models).

The mudguard stays and wheel rims were chrome plated to make them easier to clean and the tank has the chrome plated tank top strip. The lighting set was removeable, having a plug and socket to connect it to the main wiring loom.  This enabled owners to ride to and from events.

The 1949 James 197cc Trials model
