Frame numbering
Frame numbers were prefixed with a year /model code.  (1956) 56L1-xxx.  etc.  From 1958 a letter code was used for each year.  (1958) AL1-xxx.   (1959) BL1-xxx. etc.

Model announcement

"The Motor Cycle" (same date) (James Programme, page 293). 

The Comet and Cadet L15 shared the same frame.  The Comet continued largely unchanged until the end of production.
