 Paint
The J4 Commodore was maroon throughout.
Wheel rims, saddle springs and the steel cover strip on the rear mudguard  to cover the tail-lamp wire were silver painted (Argenize aluminium finish).
The saddle frame, speedo (where fitted) and tail-lamp body were black.
1952 - 53 model had a gold line round the raised tank panel.

Plating
Chrome: Handlebars and levers, gear change lever and top plate & screw, exhaust system, rear lamp bezel, headlamp bolts & rim, tank top strip (1952 ?).

Cadmium: nuts and bolts, toolbox button, fork links (?).
