The J5 was maroon throughout.
Wheel rims and saddle springs were silver painted (Argenize aluminium finish).
The saddle frame, speedo and tail-lamp body were black.
The 1953 model had a gold line round the raised tank panel.
The 1954 - 55 model had a silver line.

Plating
Chrome: Handlebars and levers, exhaust system, rear lamp bezel, headlamp nuts or bolts & rim, headlamp switch (rectified lighting)

Cadmium: Nuts and bolts, toolbox button.
