 Paint
The J9 was maroon throughout.
The wheel rims were silver painted (Argenize aluminium finish)
The1953 model had a gold line around the raised tank panel.
The 1954 model had a silver line round the raised tank panel.
The 1955 model had a double silver line round the tank (thick outside - thin inside).
Speedo was black

Plating
Chrome: Handlebars & levers, tank top strip, exhaust system.
Cadmium: Nuts & bolts.

Polishing
The aluminium mudguards were polished. The near-side valance on the rear mudguard was maroon.
