 Transfers (decals) were applied to the :-

 

  Front mudguard embellisher   Engine shields
Headstock 1953   Side panels / toolbox lids
Tank sides 1953 Chainguard 1953 *
  Tank top strip   Rear mudguard
 * Some photos show the 1953 bike with no chainguard transfer.  The 1953 annual sales brochure show the bike without but a separate sales brochure exclusively for the J9  show it with the transfer.  Take your pick.
